Battleship Missouri (Mo) is moored off Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. Every Tuesday I would meet with my friends for breakfast close-by and then some of us would go across to the Missouri to operate the amateur radio station in the radio room of the ship.
The radio room’s distribution equipment has been restored to a 1984 standard and has war-time and post-war equipment on display.
And here’s a wrinkley, old “veteran” operator at work, who doesn’t know that he’s lost the rolls of wallpaper he was carrying. Poor old chap’s been doing too much CW.
The antennas are the original ship’s whips and a discage. This is the main antenna ….unfortunately there is no access to the wire antenna. More can be seen at KH6BB.ORG- You’ll be safe - the wrinkley old so-and-so won’t be there….
Here on the right, we are with our two friends waiting to take us to an area where apparently there are plenty of bars…I think they said it was called “The Brig”, which we thought was an interesting collective noun for pubs.
